Profile of Nana Okogyeaman Dankwa Ameyaw Kokroko II

Nana Okogyeaman Dankwa Ameyaw Kokroko II Nana Okogyeaman Dankwa Ameyaw Kokroko II was enstooled as the Chief of Assin Wurakese in the Assin Central Municipality of the Central Region, Ghana on 16th December, 2017 at a colourful ceremony amid pomp and pageantry at Assin Wurakese. Known in private life as Prof. Michael Kofi Baffoe, Nana is a Professor of Social Work at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. He was educated at the Methodist Primary School and the L/A Middle School at Assin Wurakese. He obtained a Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ after completing a four-year Teacher Training Program at Foso Training College, Assin Foso in 1973. After a brief teaching stint at the S.D.D Primary and Middle Schools in Koforidua from 1973 to 1976, Nana proceeded to the University of Ghana, Legon where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 1979. He proceeded to Canada to continue his education where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree (19920, a Master’s Degree (1993) and a Ph.D Degree (2006) all from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Prof. Baffoe has been teaching and conducting research at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada since 2006. He previously taught at Concordia University School of Community Development and McGill University School of Social Work, Montreal from 1994 till 2006. Okogyeaman’s Vision for his Community At his installation, Nana Okogyeaman Dankwa Ameyaw Kokroko II had these visionary words for his people: “Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo said at his inauguration as President on January 7, 2017 that God did not put us on the land called Ghana to be poor, because we have everything…lots of resources. In the same vein, God did not put us on the land called Assin Wurakese to be poor, because we have lots and lots of resources” “I ascended this Stool created by a long list of our ancestors to provide leadership, effective leadership, for the community. We have resources…lots of resources on our land. I therefore promise you that I will use the vast natural resource of our land to provide positive development for our community”. “My top priority is education for our children and youth. I will assist the youth in our community to pursue education to their highest potential”.
